Tendonitis arises when the tendon acquires a swollen condition from a traumatic event. If it is not dealt with accordingly, the tendon could rupture and cause even more problems for your overall foot and ankle health! It usually happens to those that are very active in sporting activities or even to elders whose tendons have become weak and susceptible to such injuries. Tendonitis pain that succeeds when this tendon ruptures is instantaneous and shoots from the heel to the back of the leg. The Achilles tendon can also rupture when the tendon undergoes a partial tear. After you incur tendonitis, you can’t run, walk up a flight of stairs normally or use your toes as usual since your calves will not be able to do their job effectively. Other reasons for this happening include foot deformities or flat feet. To avoid this from occurring, you must elude placing large amounts of stress on your tendons. Achilles tendinitis is a deteriorating condition that can cause a great amount of pain and consequences if not treated appropriately.
Treatment for this condition includes:
Take part in physical therapy that focuses on your calf muscles.
Use anti-inflammatories to decrease inflammation.
Use cold therapy to similarly lessen swelling.
Use shoes that decrease the overall amount of friction applied to them so that your tendon can recover.
Surgery may be mandatory to mend injured tendons when other methods are unproductive.
